Breakthrough Battery Paves The Way For Sustainable Homes

Researchers at the University of Cincinnati have crafted an innovative battery design that safely operates at nearly 4 volts without using water or expensive membrane-separators. This breakthrough could trigger potential transformations in the energy storage sector, especially beneficial to renewable energy storage on a large scale. By eliminating the membrane, it reduces costs significantly, making renewable energy more cost-friendly and globally accessible.

Key Points:

  • This efficient battery delivers 4 volts and stands as a significant breakthrough in renewable energy storage.

  • The university chemist foresees homes powered by renewable energy stored in these safe, low-cost batteries.

  • The design safely handles high voltage, a major improvement on traditional aqueous batteries.

  • The team has filed for patents and envisions big advancements in battery within two decades.

  • Team members underline the battery's greater energy density and significant cost savings.

I see a bright future with all these brilliant minds focusing on better energy storage solutions.

How to Grow Tumeric

This Common Spice Has Over 12 Scientifically-Proven Superpowers (Number 8 Will Shock You!)

Growing turmeric at home is a great way to have a fresh supply of this superfood. Here are the steps to grow turmeric at home:

  1. Choose organic turmeric rhizomes that are free of wrinkles and have visible eyes.

  2. Cut the rhizomes into multiple pieces, each with 2-3 eyes.

  3. Optionally, leave the pieces in the air for healing for 2 days.

  4. Soak the rhizomes for 12 hours in water.

  5. Prepare well-draining soil with at least 50% compost, like decomposed cow dung or vermicompost. Cocopeat + compost or peat moss + compost can also be used.

  6. Choose any container for rooting. A large container like a 12 to 15-inch container or fabric bag can be used. Make sure there are multiple drainage holes. Fill the container with potting mix.

  7. Plant turmeric pieces with eyes facing upwards or sideways, at least 1 or 2 inches deep. Cover them with potting mix.

  8. Water thoroughly till it comes out of drainage holes.

  9. Keep in indirect bright light.

  10. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.

Turmeric can be grown in containers or in the ground. It can be grown indoors or outdoors, depending on the climate. Turmeric plants are fast-growing herbaceous shrubs that can grow up to 3 feet tall. The ideal soil for growing turmeric is loose, well-draining, free of big clumps or rocks, and fairly rich in organic matter.

Harvesting turmeric can be done when the leaves and stem start to turn brown and dry, about seven to 10 months after planting.

By following these steps, you can easily grow turmeric at home and enjoy its many health benefits.

Eco-friendly Utensils

Get your friends and family together without destroying the planet

Hosting festive gatherings with friends and family is always a joy, but the mountain of dirty dishes left in the aftermath can be daunting. While it may be tempting to take the easy way out and use disposable plastic cutlery, this convenience comes at a greater cost to our planet.

But fret not if you really don’t want to do the dishes. I've crafted a blog post focusing on eco-friendly disposable utensils that have a minimal environmental impact.

The problem is:

  • You are chewing on plastic and consuming some of it.

  • They end up in a landfill after you have eaten your meal, where they take thousands of years to break up.

Key points:

  • Check out some alternatives to disposable Utensils

  • Save money and the environment

  • Stay healthy and enjoy your gatherings with an eco-friendly touch.
